Is it wrong of me to say that I am in love with my new cereal bowls, not that I have any of them left. They are just so yummy looking, and popular also. This weekend was so amazing. Other than Providence a fortnight ago, I haven't done a craft show since December so it's been a long since I've gotten that real face to face with my buyers. I had a lovely experience with a very famous lady who bought one of my bowls. Her face was so familiar but I thought she was a customer from another venue and I said to her "You look so familiar", and she gave me the sweetest smile and said "Your work is lovely". It bugged me for ages because I figured out she was an actress but I just couldn't place her. I thought to myself, "I'm going to ask her what she was in" and then just like that I remembered, but it's a secret. I am guessing that since she didn't reveal her identity to me that maybe I shouldn't post it here. All I can say is, that if you happen to read this, I love your work and that one with the fellow Aussie is one of my favourite movies. I loved your smile, it was one of those sweet ones like a kind touch to the face. Thank you for liking my work, I like yours too.
And to all of you, come and see me here.

I have been making like crazy this week. I have lots of wholesale orders to fill and I am booked for two craft markets this weekend and then another next Sunday. I will be here in Providence, here in Worcester and then here in Hopkinton. My poor husband is feeling a little neglected this week but I can't help it, it's the busy season and I want to take advantage of all of it. I am also going to be at a fundraising craft show at the Boston Childrens Hospital on Thursday November 20th, I don't have a link for that.
The other exciting news on the busy side of things, is that I have been accepted in to both the Craftland and Sowa Holiday Market this year. This is a very big deal for little ol' me to be in such wonderful shows. I am not quite sure how I'm going to get all this stock made, I'm sure the hubby will have a few things to say about that too. I went a little crazy at Walmart in Nashua on Sunday and bought Lilly a big flashy dollhouse. This is the picnic that Lilly and Daddy set up, how cute is that. Mmm I see coffee. I think I'm going to have to work on her "smile" for the camera, it has turned into a scary, toothy, screwed up face kinda thing.

I am also addicted to fabric. I have boxes of it stashed away in my hall closet. I don't have anywhere to put it all on display. I do have a lovely ceramic studio but it is very dusty so that is no place for pretty fabrics. We snuck outside in the chilly winds just long enough to take a couple of pictures. I lured Lilly back in with the promise that we were just getting our coats but I was super relieved when she wanted to play on 'Mummy bed' instead.
I have been making the usual little word dishes and a few kitty mugs for orders but there are new ideas floating around in my brain. I can't wait to have some baby free time to devote to new products. I really want to make a plaster mold of a replica dish from my college days. It was one of my favorites that scored me big points with the head of the ceramics department. I am dying to get on the wheel and then get carving, the mold making does not enthuse me quite so much. I would love to post some photos of my older work right now but unfortunately all that sort of thing sits in a suitcase at my mothers house in Australia just waiting for me to return home. sigh. One day.

I shared a booth with my friend Laura last year. We had a great display but the folks just didn't seem to turn up. It was one of the coldest days we had so I would have preferred to be home on my couch also. We took these shots with her camera and I just got them today. Everything looks so yummy.
Above is a shot of the pennant banner I made for this show. I had planned on making some for the Holidays but of course there is just never enough time.
When I was in Australia I sold at an outdoor market every weekend. Friday night, all Saturday and all Sunday was a long stint to be selling your wares after spending the other four days making it. I enjoyed it because I got great feedback and I got to keep all my profits. Now I wholesale 99% of what I make. I like being able to just make things and know that they are sold without having to put little stickers on everything and lug it to and from my car every week. Every now and then I like to do a market to sell whatever random pottery things I have created and of course I have all dresses I have sewn also. I am always happy to be back at home though. Now that I have a family I just couldn't see myself dragging everything to shows and spending a whole day away from Bug and hubby.

Red Obi. Weymouth. MA
White Crane Gallery. Omaha. NE
Handcraft House. Brewster. MA
On the Cusp. N. Easton. MA
Hourglass. Melrose. MA (carrying mini cat dishes)
There certainly are many stores in MA carrying my work. Please note that many of these stores only carry the word dishes unless specified.
This is the flip side of that jack-o-lantern dress shown last week.
This giant white cat just appeared under the bushes in the backyard one day. He had several large holes in him from abscesses. He wouldn't come anywhere near me in the beginning but I just kept giving him food and water and eventually he came for a pat. He is one of the sweetest and most affectionate cats I have ever met. His wounds have all healed up and he loves to come inside and sleep. He is getting along pretty well with our other cat Mister who is enjoying all the reassuring extra attention we are giving him. This big boy, who we call Kitty still needs to have some work done in the back end, if you know what I mean but it seems he may be here to stay.

I just heard from Debra at La Muse in Alexandria, VA that American Style Magazine is running a story on the store in the December issue, and they plan on using a photo featuring my work. This is very exciting for me as you can imagine. Last month I stumbled upon this online. Now there isn't a photo of my work but I get a nice mention in the last paragraph. OOP!, RI is one of those stores I really wanted to get into when I first started selling in America, its so vibrant. They are one of two stores that carry my word mugs, no pictures of those to show you right now. On the subject of dream stores, there is Different Drummer in Wickford, RI. It was pure good fortune that let me to meet Amy and then Susan of D.D. Susan has been a good friend and mentor to me for both business and personal issues. I feel very lucky to have her friendship, and she always takes such good photos of Lilly when we visit.
She looks a litte uncertain of this.
I went to IKEA today with my sister in law. These are the orders I sorted out this morning before we left, they will be sent out tomorrow. Oh and some magnet tops.
